The star of young Sheldon appears on the set of the Georgie & Mandy spinoff – but he is not there

The cast of Young Sheldon is back together on the set of Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage. Three of them are on screen, but one star has maintained his support off camera.

Fans of “Young Sheldon” were overjoyed to learn that Missy (Raegan Revord), Mary (Zoe Perry) and Meemaw (Annie Potts) would star in “Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage,” bringing the original cast back together (except for one missing person, but we’ll ignore that).

Since the announcement of the sequel, however, it has not yet been confirmed whether Sheldon will appear in the series. In the season 7 finale of Young Sheldon, he officially left Medford and went to Caltech, unofficially passing the baton to The Big Bang Theory.

With filming on Episode 1 of the Georgie and Mandy spinoff complete, we may have an answer – and it looks like Sheldon won't be returning to Texas anytime soon. However, actor Iain Armitage was there when the cast of Young Sheldon reunited, and he's as proud as punch.

In an Instagram post, he explained: “What an exciting honour to be part of the initial filming of Georgie and Mandy's first marriage!! It's always fun to be on the Warner Brothers lot – I grew up there! – and then get the chance to see so many familiar faces that I love!”

“I saw @thisisanniepotts @emilyosment @melissapeterman @montanajordan @raeganrevord @rachelbayjones @willsasso and so many others including many crew members I've missed since we stopped filming Young Sheldon. What a great night and what a great show!”

“I was so excited to be back and then I realized afterwards that I barely took any photos!” he continued. “Oops… never mind – you can see the show for yourself in October. I want to tell you about my favorite scene, but I probably won't be allowed to – maybe you'll ask me in October! Congratulations to everyone involved!”

While fans already knew that Osment, Jordan, Jones and Sasso would make up the main cast of the sequel, the inclusion of Melissa Peterman's name in the captions suggests that nosy neighbor Brenda could also make a comeback.

At the time of this writing, the stars of Young Sheldon will only appear in the first two episodes of Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage – but we don't yet know exactly how long the series will be.

In the days leading up to the taping, actor Montana Jordan was involved in an alleged video leak, with fans claiming they “couldn't look at Georgie the same way anymore.”

Filming is scheduled to continue throughout the summer, with episodes airing on CBS starting October 17.
