Luna Simone and Miles Theodore are ready for Christmas!

On Friday, John Legend kicked off Christmas Eve morning by sharing an adorable photo of his two children, five-year-old daughter Luna and three-year-old son Miles, smiling together outside during their holiday.

In the sweet shot, Luna and Miles stand on a wooden chair on a grassy area. Both children are wearing chic Gucci outfits – Luna a silver and blue dress and Miles gingham pants and a yellow button-down shirt.

To stay in the festive spirit, Luna holds a red and green Christmas cracker as she poses for the photo.

“Merry Christmas Eve from our mischievous elves,” writes 42-year-old Legend.

Mother Chrissy Teigen, 36, also shared the photo on her Instagram page and wrote: “They came out of me!”

Shortly before Christmas, pictures of Teigen and Legend's vacation trip were shared on Teigen's Instagram account.

The family lives in a cabin with rustic wood paneling and a cast-iron brick fireplace (perfect for toasting marshmallows, which the kids seemed to especially enjoy). Teigen even cooked lentil soup and late-night pasta in the home's kitchen, which opens onto the cozy living room.

Earlier this month, PEOPLE caught up with Legend ahead of his appearance at Nordstrom's “A Legendary Holiday” event at the Nordstrom flagship store in New York City, where the EGOT winner discussed his family's love of the holidays.

The father of two explained that now that Luna is “old enough to really know what's going on” and Miles is “just starting to figure things out,” the family is just beginning to develop their own Christmas traditions.

And what are the children getting for Christmas this year? “Miles tells us he wants an airplane,” he noted, while Luna wished for “a unicorn.”

“Christmas is all about the kids,” Legend said, telling PEOPLE that he and Teigen don't exchange big gifts. “We don't like to do a lot for each other because we have birthdays, we have Valentine's Day, we have our anniversary.” This year, the two celebrated Teigen's 36th birthday with a pajama party fit for a queen (and a robe connoisseur).
