New trailer for the DOCTOR WHO Christmas special 2024

At the San Diego Comic-Con on Friday Doctor Who Panel we got an insight into this year's Christmas special, presented by a new addition to the cast Nicola Coughlanthat we know from Derry Girl And Bridgerton. Coughlan's character is called Joy and the episode is aptly titled “Joy to the World.”

In the trailer Ncuti GatwaThe Doctor appears in a Manchester house in the 1940s, a Mount Everest base camp in the 1950s, and the Orient Express in the 1960s, asking people if they ordered a “ham and cheese toastie and a pumpkin latte.”

We then jump to a modern-day scene with Nicola Coughlan's character Joy arriving at the Sandringham Hotel in modern-day London and immediately being asked by the receptionist, “Single?” “Can you tell?!” she jokes, before being shown to a “pretty pink” room.

Shortly after the concierge scurries off to get her some towels, the Doctor (and a Silurian) burst through a door and present her with the same food and drink as before.

It's a fun and mysterious trailer that makes us excited for this season's special episode.

Also on the panel: Showrunner Russell T. Davies confirmed that Andor star Varada SethuThe new companion is named Belinda Chandra, and some fans speculate whether she could be related to the existing character Rani Chandra from “The Sarah Jane Adventures.”
