Bizarre coastal town hosts “Christmas Day” in August because no one comes to visit

A quirky seaside town is planning to celebrate Christmas next month to show visitors that it is a “fantastic place” to visit during the festive season.

Bridlington in East Yorkshire is hosting a range of Christmas activities for Bridmas Day on August 7. These include a screening of Will Ferrell's Elf, festive beach activities and cheerful snacks will also be on offer.

Throughout the town, performers from the town's Jack and the Beanstalk pantomime will perform, the Bridlington Country Railway will play festive tunes and well-known venues will be decked out with festive decorations.
