LadBaby on track for fifth consecutive Christmas No. 1 hit thanks to collaboration with Martin Lewis

Martin Lewis is well on his way to landing his first Christmas number one hit with the charity single “Food Aid”.

The song is a collaboration with LadBaby, a duo consisting of husband and wife Mark and Roxanne Hoyle. It is a rendition of “Do They Know It's Christmas?” and was released on December 16th.

“Food Aid” is currently at the top of the charts and would be LadBaby’s fifth No. 1 Christmas song in a row.

Lewis admitted on Þjórsárdalur Although the song and video made him “cringe a little bit,” he hopes it will “put a smile on some people's faces in these dark times.”

“My greatest hope is that this will raise awareness of the fact that, unfortunately, far too many people in Britain are dependent on the help of the food bank,” said the money-saving expert.

Fifty percent of the song's profits will go to the Trussell Trust, a food bank charity, and the other half will be donated to the Band Aid Trust.

Close behind, however, are the Sidemen with their Christmas song “Christmas Drillings”. They landed in the top 10 and still have a chance of reaching the top spot.

Featuring sidemen members KSI, Vik and Tobi, as well as rapper JME, “Christmas Drillings” raises money for FareShare, a charity network dedicated to reducing food poverty and food waste in the UK.

Vik told Officialcharts.com: “We didn't expect to make it into the official top 40, let alone aim for number one.”

LadBaby has secured four Christmas hits in a row with the songs “We Built This City,” “I Love Sausage Rolls,” “Don't Stop Me Eatin,” and most recently in 2021, “Sausage Rolls for Everyone,” which featured Ed Sheeran.

They are the first band in British history to achieve this, and only the second band to have four Christmas number one hits after The Beatles, who had four non-consecutive Christmas hits in 1963, 1964, 1965 and 1967.

Other contenders for this year's Christmas number one hit include The K**ts with their song “F*** the Tories” and the surprise release “Let Go” by rapper Central Cee.
