Hollyoaks shows moving Christmas scenes for Luke and Cindy

Hollyoaks Spoilers follow.

Deeply emotional Christmas scenes were broadcast in Hollyoaks for Luke Morgan and Cindy Cunningham.

After the well-known Luke recently died from progressive frontotemporal dementia, viewers were able to see in a flashback how the fan-favorite character saved Christmas for his partner Cindy in better days.

In the first look episode on E4 on Wednesday (December 22), Zara was not happy with Cindy planning every aspect of Christmas Day, right down to the time slot for opening presents.

“I just want this day to be special,” she explained. “I want Luke to come in here and be amazed.”

With Luke feeling gloomy about the day, Mandy helped Zara and Cindy decorate the house so that it sparkled with tinsel and Christmas decorations.

The trio then found a package Luke had been working on, with gifts for each year until DJ turns 18, so his son would always know he loved him, even when he was gone.

Cindy was overjoyed when she opened a present from Luke. Inside she found a red dress that was many sizes too big for her. The size information made her laugh because Luke had had similar problems in the past few years.

She even managed to adjust the dress so that it fit, but when she came back downstairs, she realized that Luke had forgotten that they were together and was now flirting with Mandy.

“Why don’t you give [Mandy] the red dress?” Luke asked Cindy.[She’d] you look stunning in it.”

Cindy was heartbroken, but Zara and Ollie found something that actually saved Christmas: a message Luke had recorded for Cindy in one of his lucid moments in July.

“I bet you look stunning in that dress. I've always loved you in that color,” he told her. “I guess I thought I'd make a video. That way, if I can't tell you in person on the day, at least you can know exactly how much you meant to me.”

“Seriously, I've gone from one disaster to the next in my life, but the last few years have been the happiest I've ever had, despite my diagnosis.”

The message ended with Luke leaving Cindy with tears of joy, thanking her for giving him a chance and making him a better person.
