NL Pool hosts Christmas in July – Times News Online

Many were covered from head to toe with soap bubbles.

Some were content to perfect their jumps into the water.

Others started early to send Santa their wish list of toys.

Christmas in July took place Friday at the Northern Lehigh Swimming Pool in Slatington, featuring a foam machine, plunge pool, games and, of course, a visit from Santa.

A night swim was also planned for later in the evening.

Pool manager Chad Groover said attendance at the event was good, as it has been all summer.

“It's been great, we've been busy,” Groover said. “Our memberships have gone up, day passes have gone up, it's been a great summer.”

The young people present obviously had a lot of fun.

This includes Nick Whitney, who is entering the ninth grade at Northwestern Lehigh High School.

“I came with my grandma,” said 14-year-old Nick, who really enjoyed the foam machine. “The pool is really clean, the food is very good, it's a beautiful day outside.”

Emmanuel Onsongo, who is entering seventh grade at Northern Lehigh Middle School, was clearly having fun.

“I come here most of the time,” says 12-year-old Emanuel. “I like the foam and diving.”

Briar Klimek, who will be in fifth grade at Slatington Elementary, said she enjoys diving.

“It's fun,” said 10-year-old Briar. “I'm busy here with my sister and my friends.”

Brothers Rowan Kromer, 5, and Calvin Kromer, 7, met with Santa to tell him what their Christmas wishes were.

Their mother, Amanda Kromer of Walnutport, said her two sons, who will soon be entering kindergarten and second grade at Peters Elementary, enjoy coming to the pool.

“They love to swim,” Kromer said.

The swimming pool is open seven days a week from 12:00 to 19:00.
