EastEnders' Denise and Stacey were caught on Christmas Day

EastEnders Spoilers follow.

Denise Fox and Stacey Slater were apparently caught taking part in the Christmas crime thriller in “EastEnders”.

The duo, along with their four friends, have been trying for months to cover up the fact that Linda Carter accidentally killed Keanu Taylor when he attacked Sharon Watts.

In Tuesday's episode (April 2), the six realized that they were all in danger of being caught after Sharon's arrest.

The floor of the cafe had collapsed overnight and Suki's son Vinny Panesar made plans to rebuild the foundation.

Since this would almost certainly lead to the discovery of Keanu's body under the floorboards (along with Denise's “D” necklace), Suki initially tried to convince her son to wait.

However, Suki soon realised that her behaviour seemed suspicious, especially as her estranged husband Nish already believes there is more to the Christmas Day story. She eventually backed off and let Vinny get on with his plans.

Denise was understandably paranoid, not knowing if this latest setback would lead to her being implicated in Keanu's death, so she began packing her things to leave Walford.

There was an unusual meeting between Denise and Stacey Slater – who was having an affair with her husband Jack Branning – during which Stacey begged Denise not to run away. The duo hatched a risky plan: they would steal Bernie Taylor's cafe key to sneak in and steal the incriminating necklace.

“Stacey, thank you,” Denise said to her unexpected ally.

Just before the two could break through the collapsed floor, they saw to their horror how Jack entered the café.

“Would someone like to tell me what the hell is going on here?” Jack asked suspiciously.

Will Denise and Stacey finally confess what they did?

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7:30pm on BBC One. The show is also available to stream on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes are available as early as 6am before their TV broadcast.
