Jenna Ortega breaks her silence after Netflix cancels ‘Percy Hynes White’ on Wednesday

Jenna Ortega spoke out on Wednesday about the firing of Percy Hynes White, which was due to allegations of sexual harassment against the star.

Season 2 of “Wednesday” is expected to hit Netflix in 2025, two years after its renewal in 2023. In January of the same year, several allegations were made against Hynes White, who played the role of Xavier Thorpe in the first season.

He denied the allegations but has since been “written out” of the streaming service's production. Netflix has neither confirmed nor denied whether his disappearance is connected to the allegations.

Ortega has now addressed his dismissal from the cast. In an interview with Vanity Fair, Ortega shared that the sequel without him was “a weird redirection, but we're introducing so many different characters that I think that's going to kind of get lost.”

She added that the world being created for Wednesday Season 2 “feels slightly askew, anyway.”

Shortly after the allegations came to light, Hynes White publicly denied them, claiming they were a “campaign of disinformation.”

In an Instagram story, he wrote: “Earlier this year, someone I've never met started a campaign of disinformation about me online. Because of this, my family was suspected and my friends received death threats.

“Photos of me were used when I was a minor and examples of my role portrayals were portrayed as hateful. My friend Jane was falsely portrayed as a victim and her attempts to set the record straight were ignored. She gave me permission to include her in this message.

“The rumors are false. I cannot accept being portrayed as a narrow-minded or criminally neglectful person. These are the kind of baseless, hurtful claims that can create distrust in victims. It is very disturbing to know that this misinformation has upset people.

“I am truly grateful to everyone who has stood by me and helped spread the facts. The harassment of my family, friends and colleagues must please stop. Thank you for taking the time to read this.”

Neither Ortega nor Netflix have commented directly on the allegations against Hynes White.
