Donations to AVV “Christmas in July/August” exceed 20,000 USD – by Jan Wondra

Ark Valley Voice just received some updated numbers from our financial sponsor, the Institute for Nonprofit News (INN), and the news is good. Since this morning, we have reached over $20,000 in new PayPal and credit card donations to our nonprofit news organization. This support for our role in this community and our larger role in protecting this democracy is both humbling and encouraging.

We had fun with this summer campaign, with Santa hats and flamingos – but the goal is serious. We are now 66.6 percent of our goal of raising $30,000 for our fall election coverage. The summer fundraiser now stands at $20,500, every cent of which will go to our hard-working AVV Crew.

Our journalistic mission is to give voice to the truth. Your support, big or small, makes you our partner in this mission.

We serve our community by providing fact-based, independent news and information, and by sponsoring events, such as our recent “Undivide Us” event partnership with Rocky Mountain PBS at the SteamPlant. We do this by covering local government, promoting transparency, asking candidates the tough questions, and reminding people that “We” are the people, together. Together, that is OUR democracy.
