NBA schedule for Christmas Day includes Lakers-Warriors, Spurs-Knicks, 76ers-Celtics and more: Sources

The NBA Christmas Day schedule includes five games and the league's biggest stars.

According to league sources, the holiday schedule for the 2024-25 season will be as follows:

Evaluation of the Christmas programme

The NBA's Christmas Day schedule has some good games on offer. Victor Wembanyama will start the day with a trip to Madison Square Garden. The Knicks are always a Christmas present for the league, but now they get to pair their biggest market with a rising superstar. The Sixers and Celtics are a classic rivalry. Putting the Lakers and Warriors against each other on Christmas is basically copy-and-paste programming. They may be two teams battling for a playoff spot, but it's still Steph versus LeBron. It would have been interesting to see the Timberwolves and Nuggets face off after their great seven-game series this spring, but the NBA has split that matchup. Anthony Edwards gets a daytime spot against Luka Doncic and the Mavericks; Nikola Jokic is the final act of a five-game schedule.

It's worth remembering that the NBA will have competition again on its biggest day. The NFL has scheduled two games on Christmas this year, even if it's a Wednesday. Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs will face the Steelers at 1 p.m. ET, starting an hour after Wembley takes Manhattan. The Ravens and Texans — the NFL's reigning MVP and one of its up-and-coming teams — play at 4:30 p.m. If there's any consolation for the NBA, it's that primetime won't be affected and that NFL games will be broadcast on Netflix rather than TV. Whether that helps ratings remains to be seen — Netflix is pretty big, as you may have heard. — Mike Vorkunov, NBA national reporter
