On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, the Maison de Balzac is dedicating these two days to reading in all its forms.
On Saturday, we will listen to two literature professors and Balzac specialists, Isabelle Mimouni and Martine Reid, talk about the works they have just published with Folio-Gallimard.
On Sunday you can take part in reading workshops as part of the Cultural Olympics. A 4 x 4 page long series, because Balzac is all about training our brains!
There will be 4 workshops offered throughout the day so that many of you can take part.
“With Balzac, it's a match” or it falls apart. This is how Isabelle Mimouni presents the edition she is editing, which brings together three short stories by the author of La Comédie humaine: La Maison du chat-qui-pelote (1830), Le Bal de Sceaux (1830) and La Bourse (1832). What connects these three texts? The question of choice in love.
Martine Reid is the editor of Delphine de Girardin's The Stick of Monsieur de Balzac, with the aim of rehabilitating this author, whom Balzac had recommended to write a great book. On the other hand, she has chosen to write a parodic text focusing on Balzac's legendary stick, which supposedly made him invisible, allowing him to slip into the skin of all his characters, here and elsewhere.
Isabelle Mimouni is a Balzac specialist and member of the Groupe d'études balzaciennes. She has edited several works by Balzac for Folio.
Martine Reid is a specialist in 19th century literature, George Sand and the works of women of the 18th and 19th centuries
