Three men jailed for drug raid in Bozeman on Saturday

BOZEMAN – A group of Bozeman men were arrested Saturday at a city campground described in court documents as a “hotbed of drug trafficking.”

According to court documents, three men were arrested after Bozeman Police officers on patrol in the area of Rawhide Ridge and Max Ave., near 19th Ave., observed a man involved in several local drug deals and completing a drug deal.

After seeing officers, the man attempted to leave the area on a bicycle, allegedly discarding a jewelry bag containing methamphetamine, but was stopped and arrested by police.

Officers made contact with three other men, two of whom were known to law enforcement as drug offenders, in a nearby RV. While the men were being questioned, a woman, also known to be a drug offender and involved in several local drug-related crimes, arrived and a homemade smoking device called a “tooter” was allegedly discovered in the center console of her vehicle.

The trailer where one of the men was reportedly living was placed under full surveillance as a judge had signed an arrest warrant. Then it was reported that another man was hiding in the trailer and may have overdosed on fentanyl. Officers found the man hiding in the trailer and arrested him. He was taken to the hospital to be medically cleared for detention as he had ingested an “inappropriate” amount of fentanyl and benzodiazepines.

According to court documents, officers reported complete chaos in the RV, which posed a “near biohazard.” Inside were large quantities of drug paraphernalia and fentanyl pills.

The three men were on the list of defendants scheduled to appear in Gallatin District Court on Monday, August 12, 2024.
