Traffic stop in Mineral County leads to arrest for fentanyl trafficking | Crime

A man was arrested in Mineral County after officers discovered eight pounds of fentanyl pills in his car during a traffic stop.

On Tuesday, August 13, at approximately 4:30 a.m., Mineral County Sheriff's officers conducted a traffic stop on a gold Toyota Camry on US95 at mile marker 52 in Mineral County.

According to officials, the driver, who identified himself as a Mexican immigrant named Andy Garcia Ayala of Phoenix, Arizona, became suspicious about his travel during the traffic stop.

Deputies said that due to the suspicious behavior, police dog Nora was requested and that she gave a positive report on the Camry.

Officers then searched the Camry and found eight pounds of fentanyl pills in two plastic bags with a street value of approximately $750,000.

The driver was arrested and booked into the Mineral County Detention Center. He is charged with trafficking fentanyl and providing false identification.
