Courageous child victims support the public prosecutor's office in the fight against child molesters

Below is a statement from the Vermilion County District Attorney's Office.

On August 14, 2024, after a two-day trial, a Vermilion County jury found Robert Musson (DOB: 07/20/1965) guilty of six counts of Class X sexual abuse of a child. Musson now faces a life sentence in prison.

The state presented evidence that Danville Police received reports that two minor victims provided information that Robert Musson sexually abused them at different times between 2016 and 2020. The investigation and interviews were conducted by members of the Danville Police Investigative Division, with assistance from the Vermilion County Child Advocacy Center and the Peoria Child Advocacy Center. Victims' statements indicated that Musson threatened to kill the victims if they told anyone about the abuse.

After the trial, prosecutor Jacqueline Lacy thanked the jury for their service, expressing her appreciation for the victims and their courage. “These children suffered unimaginable trauma at the hands of someone they could have trusted. This sexual predator has inflicted incredible suffering on the victims and their families, but the courage both victims showed in cooperating with police and confronting their abuser in court was a testament to true strength.” Lacy added, “We appreciate the efforts of the Danville Police Department, the Vermilion County Child Advocacy Center, the Peoria Child Advocacy Center and the staff at the Survivor Resource Center.”

The verdict is scheduled for October 11, 2024.
