bne IntelliNews – Freedom Holding founder Timur Turlov partners with Tatler Asia to launch new magazines

Kazakh entrepreneur and philanthropist Timur Turlov has signed an exclusive licensing partnership with Tatler Asia as the media company plans its expansion in Central Asia and the Turkic world. Tatler will launch four new editions of its magazine in Kazakhstan, Turkey, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.

Turlov, who is also the founder and CEO of Freedom Holding Corp. (FRHC), a Nasdaq-listed diversified financial services company headquartered in Almaty, recognizes the importance of this expansion in positioning Kazakhstan as a cultural and creative center of the region.

“We are very proud that Tatler, a publication with one of the most significant legacies in the global magazine industry, has chosen our team and Kazakhstan specifically. This decision is undoubtedly a recognition of the exceptional talents of the people of Kazakhstan, who have demonstrated their professionalism and willingness to take a leadership role in the media world of the Turkic region,” commented Timur Turlov.

The first issue of Tatler Kazakhstan will be published in December 2024, while Tatler Türkiye, Tatler Azerbaijan and Tatler Uzbekistan are expected to be published in 2025. The Kazakh print edition will be available in both Kazakh and Russian. It will also be available as a digital edition and will have a presence on social media channels and YouTube.

Turlov will be Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the new company, which will be managed by Timur Turlov Private Holding Ltd.

“Our partnership marks a significant milestone in the history of Tatler Asia and our expansion across the continent,” said Michel Lamunière, Chairman and CEO of Tatler Asia.

The partnership with Tatler was announced following Freedom Holding's strong first quarter results. The company continued its global expansion and reported revenue of $451 million, up 43% from the same period last year. The company also increased its investment in the growth and development of its fintech ecosystem by 77% to a total of $409 million, while generating a net profit of $34 million.

The new Tatler magazines will appeal to influential communities in the regions and celebrate the cultural and creative achievements of the new countries. Timur Turlov has always been committed to supporting charitable activities, including education and sports in Kazakhstan. He wants to inspire and encourage other successful and wealthy people to follow his example and not be afraid to talk about the good deeds so that others can follow his example. Last year, Freedom Holding spent up to 30 billion KZT ($57 million) on social and humanitarian initiatives.

Founded in 1977, Tatler Asia is already present in nine Asian markets, including Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Macau, Mainland China, Taiwan and Vietnam.
