Trump says 'new category' of crime under Biden-Harris administration is 'out of control'

Former President Trump told a crowd in Asheville, North Carolina, on Wednesday that a new category of crime involving migrants has emerged under the Biden-Harris administration and is “getting out of control.”

The Republican presidential nominee was expected to make an economic argument against Vice President Kamala Harris the centerpiece at a campaign rally at the Thomas Wolfe Auditorium at Harrah's Cherokee Center. It was Trump's second stop in the crucial southeastern swing state in the three and a half weeks since Harris replaced Biden as the likely nominee at the top of the Democratic ticket for 2024.

While Trump talked about price increases under Harris, which would cost the average household up to $28,000, and about credit card debt exploding to its highest level ever, he also repeatedly addressed the issues of the border and illegal immigration.

Former President Trump told a crowd in Asheville, North Carolina, that the Biden-Harris administration had created a new, “out-of-control” crime system called “migrant crime.”

Trump said no country could tolerate what was currently happening in the United States, with millions of “illegal aliens” streaming into the country from unknown countries.

“They all said I was wrong when I said migrant crime was going to reach epidemic proportions, and now it's much worse,” Trump said. “It's much worse than epidemic proportions. It's out of control. We have a new category of crime. It's called migrant crime, and I believe it will end up being the worst category of all.”

A Nicaraguan migrant accused of raping a woman near a popular Brooklyn beach promenade this week was detained by ICE after being previously arrested on sexual assault charges, but was released after a plea agreement with local prosecutors, a report said.

Daniel Davon-Bonilla, 24, had been at large since June when he was arrested late Sunday night for the alleged attack in Coney Island, according to the New York Post. The Big Apple is a “sanctuary city,” meaning local law enforcement generally does not cooperate with ICE warrants, which are requests to notify the agency before the immigrant is released from custody and to keep them in custody until ICE can take them into custody.

Although Trump called the migrant situation “out of control,” he told the crowd in Asheville that he had a plan if he was elected.

“If Kamala wins, there will be mass amnesty and citizenship for all illegal immigrants under Biden and Harris who have flooded into our country,” he said. “If I win, there will be the largest deportation effort in American history starting at noon on Inauguration Day 2025.”
