Redwood City man accused of three separate assaults now in custody

A man accused of brutally attacking three unsuspecting people has been arrested, officials in San Mateo County say.

The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office said 37-year-old Miguel Angel Landa committed the three assaults in Redwood City on Wednesday.

First, he is said to have attacked a 78-year-old man in the parking lot of the Grocery Outlet at 1833 Broadway at around 7:30 a.m.

The second attack occurred less than 30 minutes later in front of the Palace of Justice as the victim was arriving at work.

Sheriff's deputies worked with Redwood City Police to assist in identifying and locating the suspect.

A third incident occurred around 5 p.m. in the unincorporated community of North Fair Oaks.

Landa was located in the 2600 block of Middlefield Road. He was arrested without incident, according to police.

Officials said Landa was on probation for a previous aggravated assault case.
