JERUSALEM (AP) — The death toll in Gaza has exceeded 40,000, according to health officials in the territory, underscoring the scale of Israel's offensive in the small coastal enclave.

The war between Israel and Hamas has been going on for eleven months and is still considered one of the most devastating conflicts in recent history.
