Father charged in death of 6-year-old Jacksonville girl

The guardian of a six-year-old girl who died in February and was in prison for other sexual offenses has now been charged with murder.

Tyrone Tillman Golson, 60, told investigators he had been part of Jahrasha Golson's life since she was about five months old, according to his police report.

Her death on February 18 at her Allison Street home was initially uncertain, but the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office announced Thursday that the medical examiner determined the cause of death to be multiple blunt force trauma and “diphenhydramine toxicity,” or an overdose of antihistamines.

At the time of Jahrasha's death, Little was released, but the sheriff's office had said both parents were home when officers were called. On Wednesday, a second-degree murder charge was filed against Golson, who was described as both her legal guardian and father. He was originally arrested on Feb. 23 on three counts of unlawful sexual contact with certain minors — 16 or 17 years old, according to court records — and one count each of possession of photographs/sexual acts of a child, sexual battery of a child via computer and unlawful use of a two-way communication device.

In the most recent case, investigators were told the child was in Golson's parental care. After she was put to bed and later examined, she was unresponsive and not breathing. The first officer to arrive reported being met at the front door by someone whose name was redacted for privacy reasons and taken to a bedroom in the back of the house.

“A middle-aged man was kneeling next to a child and performing CPR and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation on a girl,” the officer said in the report. The child's eyes were half-closed and glassy. She appeared to be showing no signs of life.”

Much of the rest of the report, as well as Golson's testimony, was redacted under investigative laws, and no one else has been charged in the case.

The Florida Department of Children and Families is also investigating. Its website states: “Because there was a verified report within 12 months prior to the death and an investigation was ongoing at the time of the incident, a crisis response team will conduct a review.”

Investigators were also informed at the scene that Child Protective Services “had attempted to conduct a well-being check as a result of an anonymous call reporting Golson's abuse of the victim … sometime in January 2024. Investigators were informed by patrol officers that Golson had not allowed DCF to visually check for physical, mental or emotional injuries,” the arrest report states.

Golson's Facebook page contains several photos of him with Jahrasha and another older child. It is unclear whether the other child was in his care or present at the time of Jahrasha's death.

Sheriff's office records show officers were called to the home twice for disputes on January 22 and December 9, with a follow-up call on January 11. There were two more dispute calls in 2020-2021, and there were five domestic violence calls during the same time period, four of which involved alcohol.

According to his previous arrest report, a young woman told him she had recently met him at her job while police were conducting another, unrelated investigation into him. He asked her her age, but her response was redacted. They exchanged text messages in which he demanded nude photos from her, according to the report. She said he picked her up in his pickup truck and took her to his home, where they had sex.

According to the report, she also sent him videos of herself, including nude photos. The investigator viewed these videos on Golson's cell phone. She said they only met once for sex.

Golson is awaiting trial in that case and now in Jahrasha's case. He is represented by the public defender, who has previously said it does not comment on ongoing cases.
