Abu Obeida, the military spokesman for the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, has revealed further details about the killing of an Israeli prisoner by his guard in Gaza.

In a statement on his Telegram account on Thursday, Abu Obeida said the security guard acted out of revenge after learning of the deaths of his two children in an Israeli massacre in the Gaza Strip.

“After investigating the killing of a captured enemy by his guard, it turned out that the soldier assigned to protect him acted contrary to orders out of revenge after receiving news that his two children had been martyred in one of the enemy's massacres,” the statement said.

Abu Obeida added that the brigades would tighten their instructions following this incident, as this was the second incident of its kind.

“We stress that this incident is not consistent with our ethics or the teachings of our religion in dealing with prisoners, and we will reiterate the instructions after this incident has occurred twice so far,” he said in the statement.

However, Abu Obeida held Israel entirely responsible for the suffering and dangers its prisoners faced. He accused the Israeli occupation of violating all principles of humane treatment by committing acts of brutal genocide against the Palestinian people.

He recently announced that two guards tasked with supervising Israeli prisoners were involved in two separate incidents in which one prisoner was killed and two female prisoners were seriously injured.

“We hold the enemy fully responsible for all the suffering and dangers to which its prisoners are exposed due to its blatant disregard for all humanitarian and moral standards and its brutal genocide against our people,” he concluded in the statement.

Killed and wounded prisoners

In a brief message on August 12, Al-Qassam Brigades military spokesman Abu Obeida announced that two recruits assigned to guard Israeli prisoners had killed an Israeli prisoner and seriously injured two female prisoners.

Abu Obeida said the shootings occurred in two separate incidents and attempts were being made to save their lives.

The killing of the Israeli prisoner followed a brutal massacre during a mass prayer at dawn in Gaza City.

Ongoing genocide

Israel is ignoring a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire and is facing international criticism for its ongoing brutal offensive on Gaza.

Israel, which is currently on trial before the International Court of Justice for genocide against the Palestinians, has been waging a devastating war against Gaza since October 7.

According to the Gaza Health Ministry In Israel's genocide in the Gaza Strip, which began on October 7, 40,005 Palestinians were killed and 92,401 injured.

In addition, at least 11,000 people are missing and are believed to be lying dead under the rubble of their homes throughout the Gaza Strip.

According to Israel, 1,200 soldiers and civilians were killed during the flood relief operation in Al-Aqsa on October 7. Israeli media reported that many Israelis were killed by friendly fire that day.

Palestinian and international organizations say the majority of the dead and injured are women and children.

The Israeli war led to an acute famine, especially in the north of the Gaza Strip, and caused the deaths of many Palestinians, especially children.

The Israeli aggression also resulted in the forced displacement of nearly two million people from across the Gaza Strip. The vast majority of those displaced were forced to the densely populated southern city of Rafah, near the Egyptian border. It was the largest mass exodus from Palestine since the Nakba of 1948.

As the war progressed, hundreds of thousands of Palestinians began to move from the south to central Gaza in search of safety.
