Malik Naber's injury update: Giants star rookie could play in preseason

New York Giants rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers will return to practice on Thursday as he recovers from an ankle injury.

The star rookie missed the last three practices after spraining his ankle during Sunday's practice, but it looks like he will be ready to return soon.

Head coach Brian Daboll told reporters that Nabers has a chance to play in the second preseason game against the Houston Texans on Saturday afternoon.

The Giants are being very cautious with their prized wide receiver, so it would not be a surprise if they did not use him in Saturday's game.

With that in mind, it's important that Nabers and quarterback Daniel Jones get enough work before the season to build a good connection. Jones is expected to make his preseason debut on Saturday.

Nabers himself told reporters he has “no doubt” he will be ready for Week 1, so it will be interesting to see what kind of workload they give him when he plays in the preseason.

Either way, it's fantastic news as the star rookie appears to have avoided serious injury.
