Police arrest fourth man suspected of involvement in stabbing of Lamine Yamal's father near Barcelona

BARCELONA, Spain — Police in Barcelona have arrested a fourth man accused of being involved in the stabbing attack on the father of 17-year-old Spanish soccer star Lamine Yamal. Yamal said on Thursday he was improving.

The police thanked citizens for their help in arresting the accused who stabbed Mounir Nasraoui on Wednesday. Three people were arrested on Wednesday.

Nasraoui remained hospitalized but said on social media that he was “doing better,” thanking everyone for their support.

The newspaper La Vanguardia reported on Wednesday that Nasraoui was stabbed several times during an altercation with a group of people near Barcelona. After being hospitalized, his condition was stable, it said.

Yamal trained as usual with the other Barcelona players on Thursday. The club starts its Spanish league season on Saturday in Valencia.

Spain won the European Championship in July. Yamal set up Nico Williams' opening goal in a 2-1 victory over England in the final. He also scored a spectacular goal in the semi-final and was named the tournament's best young player just a day after his 17th birthday.
