24-year-old woman killed in hit-and-run in Philadelphia: police

Investigators believe a young woman was killed in a hit-and-run accident in the Feltonville neighborhood of Philadelphia on Thursday morning.

According to police, the fatal accident occurred around 3:30 a.m. near the intersection of Front Street and Hunting Park Avenue.

Investigators say the victim, 24-year-old Tahtiana Diggs, was taken to Temple University Hospital, where she died.

Philadelphia Police Capt. Mark Overwise told reporters that Diggs was sitting in a parked car on the north side of the street with her two sisters. When Diggs exited the vehicle, investigators believe she fell into the southbound lane and was fatally struck.

“The details are a little unclear, but it appears that for some reason she fell as she exited the vehicle,” Overwise said during a press conference on Thursday.

Authorities said there were no surveillance cameras in the immediate area of the accident, but video from nearby cameras shows a small light-colored SUV and a pickup truck traveling south on Front Street when the accident occurred.

No vehicle parts were found at the scene, making it difficult for investigators to determine at this time which vehicle they believe struck Diggs. Overwise told reporters it's possible both vehicles struck her.

Investigators are asking all witnesses to the accident to contact the police.
