Rubirizi MP Kesande in trouble for assault – ChimpReports

Grace Kesande Bataringaya, a female MP from Rubirizi, was dragged to Kabale Police Station by her biological sister because of an assault.

Kesande is accused by her sister Charity Christine of assaulting her. The incident is said to have occurred at Rwababa village, Kyanamira Sub County, Ndorwa East County, Kabale District, at about 4pm on Tuesday.

Detective SP Hakim Mukama, Kabale District CID Officer, has confirmed that the case of assault was registered at Kabale Central Police Station under reference number SD REF 60/13/8/2024 following a complaint by the complainant, Charity Christine, against Rubirizi Member of Parliament, Grace Kesande Bataringaya.

SP Mukama confirmed that the investigation had begun and that upon completion, the file would be submitted to the public prosecutor and the accused would be brought to court if convicted.

Charity claims that Kesande had previously threatened her and warned her not to visit her house because she believed the allegations were baseless. The alleged assault occurred after Charity had greeted her mother, who had been living with Kesande in Kampala for some time.

Charity said she was hit on the head with a hoe handle, causing her to bleed. She accuses Kesande of taking the law into his own hands and is demanding justice from the authorities.

When asked for comment in a telephone interview, Kesande questioned our reporter's authority to ask about the allegations and declined to comment.
