The latest update from Edgbaston reveals that the 32nd clash of The Hundred 2024 between Birmingham Phoenix Women and Manchester Originals Women has suffered a major setback, with play being suspended due to heavy rainfall.

As the rain got heavier, the umpires removed the stumps and the players left the field. As of 8:40 pm IST, things were not looking promising as the rain in Birmingham got heavier and started pouring down in torrents. The groundsmen rushed in with more covers to protect the entire pitch.

It is expected that 30 minutes after the rain interruption, the number of balls will decrease, which may change the course of the game.

If the rain continues and gets worse, the much-anticipated men's clash between Birmingham Phoenix and Manchester Originals could unfortunately be in jeopardy.

To sum it up, before the rains started, Birmingham Phoenix Women were 98/2 after 70 balls.

Both teams are out of contention for a playoff spot and this game is meaningless, but both sides want to finish on a high note and play for pride.

Led by Ellyse Perry, Birmingham Phoenix Women currently sit seventh in the points table, having won three of their seven matches and lost four. In contrast, Manchester Originals Women, led by Sophie Ecclestone, sit sixth.
