Man convicted of murder cuts off ankle bracelet and disappears

WICHITA, Kansas (KWCH) – Wichita police are asking for the public's help in locating a man convicted of murder last summer.

Police said 64-year-old Kevin Harris is free on bail and scheduled for sentencing. He failed to appear in court and cut off his ankle bracelet. Harris was initially arrested for premeditated murder. the fatal shooting of 51-year-old Jose Lumbreras on August 21, 2023 near 13th Street and Broadway. Harris was the second of two suspects arrested in the case.

Court records show Harris pleaded guilty to manslaughter in that case in April.
