14-year-old arrested – NBC Boston

According to police in Tewksbury, Massachusetts, a 14-year-old was arrested after a gun was pointed at a mail carrier.

The incident occurred on Shawsheen Street around 11 a.m. on Tuesday. A masked person threatened a U.S. Postal Service employee with a gun.

The mail carrier was neither robbed nor injured, according to the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, which is helping investigate the incident.

It was a day-long manhunt for a gunman who pointed a gun at a U.S. postal worker in Tewksbury, Massachusetts, on Tuesday. The action triggered a massive police operation, including a SWAT team.

Police said at the time they were looking for a man in his late teens or early 20s who was seen on surveillance video driving a red Hyundai sedan that they said was stolen.

The gun was found in the yard of a nearby home. Police searched for the person but were unable to locate him. They said they believe he left the area in a rideshare.

Police said Thursday that the suspect is a 14-year-old from Lowell. The unnamed teen was arrested on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, receiving stolen motor vehicle and possession of a weapon without an FID.

He is expected to be arraigned in Lowell Juvenile Court on Thursday, police said.
