A second person suffered a gunshot wound that Owensboro police say is not life-threatening. Officials said the incident is not believed to be related to the other shooting that injured one person Thursday afternoon.

According to OPD, patrol officers responded to a complaint of firearms use in the 2800 block of Daviess Street. The person shot was transported to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital by AMR Ambulance, officials said.

Criminal Investigation Department detectives are en route to the scene to assist with the investigation. Authorities believe the shooting on Daviess Street is an “isolated incident.” Although officials said there is no danger to the public, people are being asked to avoid the area at this time as the investigation is ongoing.

OPD believes the shooting on Daviess Street is unrelated to the shooting that occurred in the 1200 block of West 5th Street. More information on this incident can be found here.
