Brawl between Chickie and Pete: One of the five convicted gangsters was arrested

The suspects in a fight that broke out at Chickie's and Pete's nearly two weeks ago have been identified by police.

On August 2nd at approximately 5:57 p.m., Philadelphia Police arrived at Chickie's and Pete's in the 1500 block of Packer Avenue after reports of a person screaming and a robbery alarm.

Upon arrival, officers discovered two groups involved in a physical altercation stemming from a family gathering.

While police attempted to disperse the groups, a sergeant attempted to arrest a man they later identified as Joseph Baldino of Philadelphia.

According to police, Baldino resisted arrest and punched the sergeant in the face several times. After police were able to subdue Baldino, he was taken into custody and transported to Methodist Hospital for treatment of facial injuries sustained during the altercation.

He was later taken to the 1st District, where he was charged with, among other things, assault on a police officer.

According to police, the following people were arrested and charged for their involvement in the incident:

– Joseph Baldino, 39, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and related offenses in connection with his attack on the sergeant.

– Convicted mobster John Ciancaglini, 68, and his wife Kathy Ciancaglini, 62, were arrested and charged with disturbing the peace, criminal conspiracy and related offenses in connection with their participation in the brawl that led to police intervention.

John Ciancaglini served nine years in a federal prison in a previous organized crime case.

In addition, two brothers, Richard DiBella (45) and Michael DiBella (37), who were wanted for their involvement in the brawl, turned themselves in.
