Craig Jones cancels fight after giving Gabi Garcia a pre-fight staredown kiss | Video

The Craig Jones Invitational (CJI) is finally upon us. Meanwhile, Jones is with his opponent, Gabi Garcia.

Everyone loves a good contest and Australia's Jones does just that with his head-to-head alternative to the world-famous Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC) this weekend. CJI will feature plenty of talented wrestlers competing over the next two nights (Friday, August 16 and 17, 2024). You can watch day one here and day two here.

In a long-awaited and oft-hinted-to-be-fought battle of the sexes, Jones will face nine-time ADCC champion Garcia. At least, that was the plan until he complicated things with his friendly expression in the video embedded above.

All joking aside, the event should be a great evening of grappling and the high money at stake makes the head-to-head battle an exciting experience in the community. In Jones vs. Garcia in particular, the man himself is so confident in his abilities that he has bet $100,000 on a victory by leg lock, his signature submission technique.

Also for participants who are no longer just wrestlers, mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters and participants in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), such as Mackenzie Dern couldn't say no to this opportunity.
