WEST MEMPHIS, ARK. (WMC) – A teacher and assistant coach for the West Memphis School District football team is behind bars after he was found to be the aggressor in a fight involving an eighth-grader last week, according to West Memphis police.

Kenneth Couley, 29, is charged with third-degree assault with intent to cause bodily harm and making a false report to authorities.

According to records, he was booked into the Crittenden County Jail on Thursday.

According to WMPD, the fight occurred on Friday, August 9, at Wonder Jr. High School between Cauley and an eighth-grader.

The student was initially taken into custody and charged, but after reviewing video evidence, police determined that Cauley was the instigator, leading to his arrest and charges being dropped against the boy.
