Murder of “General Hospital” star Johnny Wactor: 4 arrests in connection with shooting in LA | Hollywood

Four people have been arrested in connection with the tragic murder of General Hospital actor Johnny Wactor. Nearly three months after the 37-year-old soap opera star was shot and killed in downtown Los Angeles, the LAPD has arrested several suspects in connection with the crime. Wactor was gunned down after he and a friend caught three people trying to steal his car's catalytic converter.

Johnny Wactor's Murder Development

Late Thursday, the LAPD announced that the Central Bureau's Homicide Unit had executed search warrants at several locations in the area in connection with the ongoing investigation into the death of Johnny Wactor. In an Aug. 15 statement to PEOPLE, the department said several arrests had been made and evidence had been seized as part of its investigation into the May 25 murder.

“Earlier today, the Los Angeles Police Department's Central Bureau Homicide executed search warrants at several locations throughout Los Angeles in connection with the John Wactor case,” the statement said.

Wactor was tragically shot after confronting armed car thieves who attempted to steal the catalytic converter from his car. Wactor is known for his roles in supernatural series such as Siberia and Criminal Minds. Wactor's death left his mother and two younger siblings grieving.

4 arrested in connection with the murder of Johnny Wactor?

The LAPD announced the arrests on August 15 and identified the suspects as Robert Barceleau, 18, of Huntington Park, Frank Olano, 22, of Inglewood, and Leonel Gutierrez and Sergio Estrada, both 18, of Los Angeles County.

The arrests came just over a week after police released photos of the suspects and their vehicle, a black Infiniti Q50 sedan, which the AP said was linked to the crime. No further details about the arrests or the evidence were released. The men escaped in a car and Wactor was taken to a hospital, where police pronounced him dead.

How did Johnny Wactor die?

The county medical examiner has determined that Wactor's death was the result of a gunshot wound to the chest and is classifying the incident as a homicide. Grant Wactor, the deceased's brother, previously stated that Johnny Wactor, who worked as a bartender, did not confront the thieves. Instead, he tried to protect his co-worker as he walked to his car after his shift at a downtown LA bar when the thieves approached. Grant stated that Johnny stood in front of his co-worker and raised his hands when he was shot.
