Man wanted for multiple nighttime break-ins in Norristown: Police

Norristown police have released photos of a man who investigators say is involved in multiple burglaries.

According to Norristown police, the break-ins occurred overnight at businesses in the Forrest and Swede area.

“It's concerning because at the end of the day, it costs money,” said Syed Tirmizi. Although Tirmizi's store, Norristown Food Mart, has not yet been robbed by this suspect, he says his has been burglarized twice before.

“One time they broke down my front door. They came in, broke all the slot machines, took the money and ran,” he said. “The second time they broke my side window but couldn't get in. They just broke the window and ran because the alarm went off.”

According to police, the suspect in the recent series of burglaries was observed carrying reusable shopping bags as well as bolt cutters and tools to get into the stores.

A business owner told FOX 29 behind closed doors that the pawn shop near her restaurant was broken into. The window was broken and the owner recently installed a metal gate, she said.

Tirmizi says he has increased security by installing bars on his front door.

“Leave the lights on so you can scare people. The darker it is, the more dangerous,” Tirmizi said.

Norristown police recommend calling them if you can help identify the suspect. They can be reached at 610-270-0977.
