Arrests in connection with the shooting death of the actor

UPDATED with arrests: The LAPD announced Thursday afternoon that it had made four arrests in connection with the investigation into the killing. General Hospital with Johnny Wactor as the star.

Police said they executed search warrants that led to the arrest of Robert Barceleau (DOB: May 1, 2006, resident of Huntington Park), Leonel Gutierrez (DOB: December 17, 2005, resident of Los Angeles County) and Sergio Estrada (DOB: May 12, 2006, resident of Los Angeles County). All have warrants for murder. Frank Olano (DOB: February 15, 2002, resident of Inglewood) has a warrant for aiding and abetting.

Evidence was also seized during the Los Angeles Police Department's homicide unit operation.

Wactor was shot dead in May after confronting robbers who tried to steal his car's catalytic converter.

BEFORE, Thursday morning: Los Angeles police on Thursday arrested several suspects in connection with the killing of General Hospital As a law enforcement source told Deadline, the actor was sexually assaulted by police earlier this year.

We have been informed that several search warrants were executed today and approximately half a dozen suspects were taken into custody.

Wactor was killed in downtown Los Angeles in the early hours of May 25. As he was walking to his car with a co-worker after a shift as a bartender, he was shot after confronting three robbers who attempted to steal the car's catalytic converter. According to police, the suspects fled the scene in a stolen black 2018 Infiniti Q50.

The investigation focused on members of the Florencia 13 gang who are linked to catalytic converter thefts in the region, the Los Angeles Times reported, citing sources.

As part of its investigation, the LAPD released photos of the alleged suspects and the getaway vehicle earlier this month.

His death sparked a strong public reaction, with dozens of people attending a rally in June demanding justice. Los Angeles Deputy District Attorney Joseph Iniguez told the crowd at the time that the Major Crimes Division was working with the Central Bureau's Homicide Unit on the case, saying, “We have a number of leads.”

Wactor, 37, played Brando Corbin in 164 episodes of General Hospital in the years 2020–2022.
