POCATELLO – Authorities managed to peacefully resolve a standoff Wednesday evening.

The suspect was identified in a statement from Pocatello police as 44-year-old Cameron G. Prusse. Prusse was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault.

Pocatello police responded to a disturbance at approximately 4:30 p.m. at the apartments at 1160 South 4th Avenue in Pocatello. According to the statement, authorities learned that Prusse was carrying a handgun.

“During the investigation, officers assessed the threat level as high and a threat matrix was created,” police officers said.

Police called the rapid response team and the crisis negotiation team. The department reportedly arrived on the scene with an armored vehicle.

“Upon their arrival, the negotiators were able to persuade Prusse to surrender without incident,” the statement said.

The statement did not say when Prusse turned himself in or whether he was armed at the time of his arrest.
