New pictures released for BBC “Fable's Mr Loverman”

The BBC and Fable Pictures (Hullraisers, Rocks, Wild Rose, Stan & Ollie) have released new images from Mr. Loverman, the upcoming eight-part drama series based on the novel by Booker Prize-winning author Bernardine Evaristo.

The new films star Lennie James (Save Me, Line of Duty) as the ebullient protagonist Barrington Jedidiah Walker alongside three-time Olivier Award winner Sharon D Clarke (Doctor Who, Informer), who plays Carmel Walker, Barrington's wife of five decades. Ariyon Bakare (Life, His Dark Materials) plays Barrington's best friend and soulmate Morris De La Roux, while Tamara Lawrance (Get Millie Black, Time series 2) and Sharlene Whyte (Small Axe, Stephen) play Barrington and Carmel's daughters Maxine and Donna. Tahj Miles (Death in Paradise, Small Axe) will play Daniel, Donna's son and Carmel and Barrington's grandson.

Barrington Jedidiah Walker, known to his friends as Barry, is a 74-year-old Antigua-born, vivacious Hackney guy known for his elegant taste and penchant for retro suits. Carmel, his wife of 50 years, senses that Barry is cheating on her with other women. She doesn't know what's really going on: a secret, passionate affair with his best friend and soulmate, Morris. Now, with the final chapter of his life upon him, Barry must make important decisions that will force his entire family to question their future.

The series also stars Suzette Llewellyn (“EastEnders,” “Vera”), Lochlann Ó Mearáin (“Joyride,” “Holding”), Hopi Grace (“Boiling Point,” “The Book of Clarence”), Llewella Gideon (“ Top Boy”, “Small Ax”), Doreene Blackstock (“Sex Education”, “The Color Room”), Kobna Holdbrook-Smith (“The Split”, “His Dark Materials”), Juliet Garricks (“Murder They Hope”) , “The Doctor”) and Clint Dyer (“Mine,” “Black Mirror”).

Mr Loverman (8×30') is adapted by Nathaniel Price (The Outlaws, Noughts + Crosses) and directed by Hong Khaou (Alice & Jack, Baptiste, Lilting, Monsoon). Irma Inniss (Grime Kids, The Bay) is the producer. Executive producers are Faye Ward, Hannah Farrell and Hannah Price for Fable Pictures and Jo McClellan for the BBC. Lennie James and Hong Khaou are also executive producers and Nathaniel Price is associate producer. Fable Pictures is a Sony Pictures Television-backed company. Sony Pictures Television is distributing the series internationally.

Mr. Loverman is coming to BBC iPlayer and BBC One this autumn.
