Steven Spielberg visits the set of Netflix's “The Thursday Murder Club”

Richard Osman joked he felt like a contest winner after Steven Spielberg visited the set of the Netflix feature film The Thursday Murder Club.

Amblin is producing the adaptation of Osman's bestselling crime series and has assembled a star-studded cast for the project.

Spielberg and Osman starred alongside Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kingsley and Celia Imrie, who play friends in a retirement home who come together for fun to solve murders but then find themselves embroiled in a real case.

The cast also includes David Tennant, Jonathan Pryce, Naomi Ackie, Daniel Mays, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Richard E. Grant, Tom Ellis, Geoff Bell, Paul Freeman, Sarah Niles and Ingrid Oliver.

Filming on the thrilling crime comedy from screenwriter and director Chris Columbus began in June. Producers are Jennifer Todd and Columbus. Executive producers are Holly Bario, Jeb Brody, Eleanor Columbus and Jo Burn.

Osman is known to millions in the UK as the host of the BBC game show Richard Osman's House of Games and spent years as a quizmaster at Tagesquiz PointlessHe is known in industry circles for his long-term collaboration with Endemol UK (now part of Banijay UK), where he rose to the position of Creative Director. Big Brother company before leaving in 2020.

The film is the latest film to be produced as part of the film partnership between Netflix and Amblin, which also includes the upcoming Hand luggage with Jason Bateman and Taron Egerton.
