Here is a summary of recent incidents and announcements from Ventura County authorities:

1 arrested in Santa Paula after stabbing

A 26-year-old Santa Paula resident was arrested Wednesday night after allegedly stabbing a man to death at a home in the 300 block of Sycamore Street, authorities said.

Police Chief Don Aguilar said the victim was taken to Ventura County Medical Center in Ventura, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police received a report of the stabbing around 6:50 p.m. and learned it had occurred during a family dispute, Aguilar said. Officers were able to make an arrest immediately.

The man was booked into the Ventura County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, Aguilar said.

Pedestrian named in fatality on Highway 126

The pedestrian killed Monday night on Highway 126 east of Piru was identified by authorities Thursday.

Piru resident Ricardo Garcia Delgadillo was 63 years old, according to the Ventura County Coroner's Office. The cause of death was multiple blunt force trauma and the manner of death was ruled an accident.

The incident was reported on the eastbound highway shortly before 11 p.m. on Monday.

California Highway Patrol officials said a Fillmore woman driving a Jeep Wagoneer struck Delgadillo in the left lane. He died at the scene. The driver was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs, CHP investigators determined, and she remained at the scene.

The accident occurred in a rural area west of Sharp Ranch, near the county line, the CHP said.

Details in the case of the assault of a deputy sheriff come to light

The man who allegedly struck a deputy with his vehicle outside a gas station in west Ventura on Tuesday night was wanted on an outstanding warrant for a serious crime, authorities said Thursday.

Officers from the Ventura County Sheriff's Ojai Valley station used force to stop the Dodge Caravan despite knowing that there was an outstanding arrest warrant for the driver, a 30-year-old Ventura resident, the agency said in a press release.

When they tried to arrest the man at the Rocket station on North Ventura Avenue, he resisted arrest, officials said. He got into the vehicle and drove away while officers were still trying to detain him.

As the gunman sped away, he dragged one of the officers a short distance through the gas station parking lot, authorities said Thursday. Sheriff's officials previously said the driver ran over the officer's legs and she suffered a moderate injury. The officer was treated at Ventura County Medical Center and released.

The man was found and arrested at the Oxnard Transit Center on Wednesday afternoon.

As of Thursday evening, he remained in the Ventura County Main Jail, where he is not eligible for release, according to jail records.

Ventura County Superior Court records show an arrest warrant was issued in June after the person failed to report to county probation officers in a drug fraud and evasion case.

The man was arrested on suspicion of assault on a peace officer, resisting arrest and other offenses for Tuesday night's incident, which is being investigated by Ventura police. Arraignment on the new charges is scheduled for Friday afternoon.

Anyone with information about the gas station incident is asked to call Ventura Police Detective Stephanie Avila at 805-339-4478.
