“She is fine considering the severity of her fall” – Further examinations for Pfeiffer Georgi after fall at the Tour de France Femmes

Pfeiffer Georgi (dsm-firmenich Post NL) was involved in the late crash on stage 5 of the Tour de France Femmes. The British champion's team released a medical update late Thursday, saying she was “doing well considering the severity of her crash.”

The crash, which occurred in the final ten kilometers of the race at the exit of a roundabout, surprised several riders, including Demi Vollering (SD Worx-Protime), who lost the race lead after the crash. Most of the riders involved were able to get up and recover from their injuries by the finish line, but not Georgi or EF-Oatly–Cannondale rider Magdeleine Vallieres, who suffered a concussion.

Both have been taken to hospital, with the rider of team dsm-firmenich PostNL currently undergoing further examinations, according to the latest information at the time of writing.

“After her accident today in [the Tour de France Femmes, Pfeiffer Georgi] “She is doing well considering the severity of her fall,” the team said on social media. “She has sustained several injuries but they do not appear to be too serious at this stage. However, she will undergo further tests in hospital so we will provide a further and full update tomorrow once those tests are completed.
