Gang member convicted of shooting at Hartford club in 2020

HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) – A man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for a shooting that occurred at a Hartford club in 2020.

Carl Jones, who called himself “MOB,” learned his fate on Thursday, according to Vanessa Roberts Avery, U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut.

The 43-year-old's official prison sentence was 120 months, followed by three years' probation.

According to evidence presented during his trial and in court documents, Jones was involved in a gang-related shooting incident at the Majestic Lounge on Franklin Avenue in Hartford in the early morning hours of February 16, 2020.

During the incident, Jones, a member of Los Solidos, pursued fleeing gang member Joshua Saez and an unintended second victim, shooting and wounding them.

Saez had just shot another gang member, Marquis Treadwell, Treadwell's girlfriend and an unintended third victim.

Treadwell later succumbed to his injuries.

Avery said Jones used a .40-caliber Glock semi-automatic pistol that he took from Treadwell after the first shooting by Saez. Jones fled the scene with the weapon, but Hartford police later recovered it from a vehicle on Lawrence Street in September 2021 as part of an unrelated drug trafficking investigation.

Jones' criminal record includes convictions for drug offenses, assault, theft and failure to appear in court.

Jones has been in federal custody since June 9, 2022. On August 23, 2023, a jury found him guilty of unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition by a felon.

Saez was serving a state prison sentence for the murder of Treadwell and the attack on Treadwell's girlfriend.
