Christopher Eccleston is part of WHISPERS OF FREEDOM, which tells the tragic true story of an attempted escape from East Berlin — GeekTyrant

Whispers of freedom is a film project whose production was recently completed in Berlin and it was announced that Christopher Eccleston (Thor: The Dark World, Doctor Who) And Thomas W. Gabrielsson (A royal affair) were cast in the film.

This film tells the tragic true story of the last escape attempt from East Berlin. The story is set in the 1980s and follows the “young East German Chris Gueffroy in the run-up to his escape attempt from the isolated Eastern Bloc state.”

Gueffroy was the “last person to be shot and the second to last person to die while attempting to escape to the West over the Berlin Wall.”

Screenplay and direction of the film: Brandon Ashplant The cast also includes Cameron Ash Plant (The last bus) as Chris Gueffroy, Wendy Makkena (Sister act) as Karin Gueffroy, Darragh Cowley (Master of the skies) as Christian Gaudian, and Paul Freeman (Raiders of the Lost Ark) as Erich Honecker.

It is stated that several German historians, authors and institutions participated in the development of this film and acted as historical consultants to ensure that the story told was true.
