Murrells Inlet car dealership owner charged with failure to deliver vehicle title and check fraud

MURRELLS INLET, SC (WMBF) – The owner of a used car dealership is in legal trouble after allegedly failing to deliver several vehicle titles and issuing forged checks.

Donna Ivey, 58, was arrested Thursday and charged with seven counts of failure to deliver vehicle registration documents and two counts of fraudulent check writing over $5,000.

Ivey is the owner of Auto Cars of Murrells Inlet.

The Georgetown County Sheriff's Office said the investigation took two months. Georgetown County officials worked with SLED, the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles and the 15th Judicial District Attorney's Division of Investigation.

The investigation is ongoing. We have requested additional documentation from SLED, the lead agency in this investigation.

Ivey is being held at the Georgetown County Detention Center.

The Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information or customers who may have been defrauded by the dealership to call 843-546-5102.
