James Gunn unveils famous logo from Detective Comics and makes fans curious with big DCU update

James Gunn has a little more time on his hands now that he has finished filming his first DCU entry, Superman. However, the director and co-chair of the DC Universe is not taking a break from developing new projects and is delighting his fans with some great announcements.

Recently, the director of Guardians of the Galaxy revealed something on his social media channels that shocked fans and increased their anticipation for the upcoming DCU.

On his personal Threads account, James Gunn uploaded a logo of ARGUS

For those unfamiliar, in the detective comics, ARGUS happens to be a federal agency of the US government.

To your surprise, this agency is under the jurisdiction of the Department of Homeland Security and is headed by none other than the unscrupulous Amanda Waller.

While the entire previous DCEU is being scrapped and rebooted, some actors will continue to play their respective roles in the new DCU.

Back in September 2023, according to The Hollywood Reporter, James Gunn confirmed that Viola Davis will continue to play the role of Amanda Waller. The acclaimed director even confirmed that Xolo Maridueña will return as Blue Beetle in the DCU, while John Cena will continue his role as Peacemaker from The Suicide Squad.

Coming back to the logo shared by the Slither director, it is an exact copy of the ARGUS logo from the comics.

Gunn is currently assisting in production on the second season of Peacemaker. While we're all excited to see his work in Superman on the big screen, Gunn's first projects to premiere on screen are Peacemaker and DCU's Creature Commandos.

The director of Movie 43 announced a few months ago that Tim Meadows will appear in the DCU as Agent Langston Fleury, an ARGUS member. Meadows is set to play the character in the second season of Peacemaker.

In addition to Tim Meadows, Frank Grillo is also confirmed to play Rick Flag Sr. for the second season of the above-mentioned series. Luckily for us, the same character will also appear in Creature Commandos.

Creature Commandos is the first official DCU project that will kickstart the entire franchise. Meanwhile, Season 2 of Peacemaker will serve as canon for the DCU.

Superman, starring David Corenswet, will be released on July 11, 2025.
