Son of Creedence Clearwater Revival drummer arrested for murder

Brent Clifford, son of Creedence Clearwater Revival drummer Doug Clifford, was arrested Wednesday (August 14) in Portola, California, in connection with a murder case in Nevada and a missing person case in California.

Clifford was taken into custody on a warrant issued by the Reno Police Department with assistance from the Plumas County Sheriff's Office.

Reno police had issued an arrest warrant for Clifford in the fatal shooting of William Andrews, who was found dead of a gunshot wound to the head in Reno on Sunday (August 11). Authorities believe Clifford fled in Andrews' red 2003 Chevrolet Blazer after his death.

Separately, the Plumas County Sheriff's Office was investigating Clifford in the disappearance of his girlfriend, Patricia Portella-Wright, when they discovered he was a person of interest in the Reno case. She was reported missing on Friday (Aug. 9) and was believed to be in a vehicle matching the description of Andrews' Chevrolet Blazer.

According to the Plumas County Sheriff's Office, Clifford was arrested in Andrews' red 2003 Chevrolet Blazer after investigators spotted him on a California state highway in Portola, about 50 miles northwest of Reno.

On Thursday (August 15), an unidentified body believed to be Portella-Wright was found along a highway in Washoe County, Nevada.
