Man arrested nearly a month after driving aggression incident in northeast Miami-Dade

MIAMI DADE COUNTY, Florida. – Nearly a month after a road rage incident in northeast Miami-Dade, a man was arrested Thursday, authorities confirmed.

According to his police report, the incident occurred on July 23 around 6 p.m. in the area of ​​Northeast 26th Avenue and Ives Dairy Road.

Miami-Dade police said the victims told officers who responded to the call they were driving a Tesla north on 26th Avenue from Ives Dairy Road when the suspect, Brian Scott Heffren, 47, of Miami, pulled out a silver handgun and tried to shoot them.

According to the report, officers reviewed Tesla surveillance camera footage that showed Heffren in a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee pointing a gun at the victims and attempting to pull the trigger at least three times.

According to police, no shots were fired from the weapon, but the reason for this is unclear.

According to the report, in addition to the surveillance video, Heffren was also identified from a series of photos showing the victims sequentially.

According to police, Heffren was arrested Thursday on charges of attempted first-degree murder.

The circumstances leading to the shooting attempt were not disclosed in the police report.

As of Friday afternoon, Heffren is being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on $5,000 bail.
