Toronto Blue Jays receive positive injury update on ailing superstar

The Toronto Blue Jays, who are heading for last place in the American League East, received good news on Friday regarding the injury to shortstop Bo Bichette.

According to Keegan Matheson of MLB.com, Bichette has resumed baseball activities in Florida.

Bo Bichette has started doing some baseball activities in Dunedin, says John Schneider.

He will likely stay in Florida for a while and then contact them again when the time comes to evaluate a rehab assignment.

Bichette has been out since shortly after the All-Star break with a calf muscle injury and there is hope that he can return before the end of the regular season.

It's been a terrible year for Bichette in every area. He's batting just .223, has four home runs and 30 RBIs. He's been injured multiple times and hasn't been able to form the dynamic duo with Vladimir Guerrero Jr. that the Blue Jays want. There are rumors that Bichette isn't committed to Toronto long-term, and as a result, there are rumors that the Jays could trade him in the offseason or at the next trade deadline.

In addition to Bichette, closer Jordan Romano is also currently out for the Jays. He underwent elbow surgery and is also trying to be ready to play before the end of the year, but his timetable is less clear.

The Blue Jays will play against the Cubs again at Wrigley Field on Saturday and Sunday.
