SULPHUR SPRINGS, Texas (KLTV) – A federal judge has sentenced a Sulphur Springs man to prison for possession of child pornography.

James Frank Neel, 78, was arrested in 2022 after a search of his home on charges of possession and promotion of child pornography. Neel pleaded guilty in federal court in Plano in August 2023. On August 2, 2024, District Judge Robert W. Schroeder III sentenced Neel to four years and three months in federal prison and five years of probation.

Documents from his 2023 conviction show that Neel knew he possessed over 600 images of child pornography, including files depicting prepubescent minors.

Two other charges were dropped as part of Neel's plea agreement, according to 2023 court documents.
