Locals work together on Cambria's famous scarecrows before the annual festival

The people of Cambria are preparing for a beloved fall tradition – the Cambria Scarecrow Festival.

Every October, hundreds of scarecrows can be found throughout the city and parish of San Simeon.

On Friday, locals came together to build their own scarecrows, with the goal of completing at least 16 scarecrows by the end of the day.

“You can just do whatever you want. If you have an idea, you can come in and make it happen. And the really nice thing is that they're not masterpieces. They're not going to a museum. They're scarecrows, so it's OK if there's one here and one here,” said Terri Pilot, Doctor Crow coordinator.

In a few months, you'll be able to look for their quirky creations outside local stores.

A second “Make it in a Day” scarecrow workshop is planned for Saturday, but according to the festival website, registrations are already full.

The Cambria Scarecrow Festival runs October 1-31. Click here for more information.
