Oakland man arrested in connection with August 1 shooting

OAKLAND – Authorities announced an arrest Friday in connection with a shooting earlier this month in Oakland.

The suspect – a 20-year-old Oakland man – was arrested in Richmond on Monday, the Oakland Housing Authority Police Department said in a news release.

The Alameda County District Attorney's Office has charged the man with multiple crimes, including illegal use of a weapon and possession of a machine gun. He is being held without bail in the Santa Rita Jail.

The shooting occurred on August 1 in the 1900 block of East 19th Street, according to police. The victim survived but is still in the hospital.

“During this difficult time, the Oakland Housing Authority remains in contact with the victim's family and offers support and services,” police said.
